- Well-known by many people on the beach for at least 20 plus years and remember the earlier, formative years of the general Grand Strand area and “OD” during the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s plus. The first SOS in 1980 was a reunion for the original Legends.
- Is at least 40+ years old.
- Does not have to be a great dancer, though many are members, but loves the music, dance, and beach, sufficient to have impacted their lifestyle. Has worked on the beach as a lifeguard, DJ, arcade, restaurants, clubs, business owners, and is a resident or frequent and regular visitor over the
years.
- May exclude years when out of area, raising family, etc., if returning when able. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances (ex: distance, illness, work) that interferes with the ability to return to the beach on a frequent basis.
- Known for their own unique “self”.
- Honorary status may also be given by Living Legends Board to individuals nominated and accumulating votes over many years.
- Members may initiate a new nominee meeting criteria by adding their name in the allotted space on the ballot. Nominations are NOT accepted without adequate contact data. New nominees are not voted on the year they are nominated.
